Air Crashes Checklist: Establish Command Post and Unify Command with Fire Battalion Chief Keep Ingress/Egress routes open Ensure personnel don PPE/Mask Delegate Traffic Control Sergeant/Officer Establish perimeter control, keeping unauthorized vehicles and pedestrians out of the involved area. Evacuations (if required) Notify Chain of Command, FAA and NTSB Begin Log (assign scribe) Only if scene is in jeopardy (rain, fire, public safety) get photographs, sketch incident and conduct interviews (this will be done by NTSB if scene is not in jeopardy) Establish a Witness Management Group and designate a secure witness management area. Identify Pilot, Passengers and Witnesses. Get information for each and identify their position in the aircraft(s) or at the scene. Notify PIO and identify Press Staging Area (Do not speculate cause of accident. Allow NTSB to make statement to the press) Consider Mutual Aid (normal calls for service, traffic, etc.) Consider Social Media Blast Advising Community of potential street closures. DO NOT UPLOAD PICTURES TO SOCIAL MEDIA. Remind first responders not to take photos unless directed to preserve the crash site.
